Design Event • Launchpad SD • 4S Tech and various upgrades
I'm hosting an event with Misti Cain, Bryan Landers, Chad Lohrli and Janette Tropea on the intersection of AI with the human and physical world. Plus: welcome Launchpad SD and 4S Tech to Startup Beach.
Hey — It’s Hussein. 👋
Things are getting busy on Startup Beach. Feels like Moonlight Beach in July! 😍
We have lots to cover today, so let’s jump in!
Events
I’m hosting a really fun event I am super stoked about with a good friend of mine, Janette Tropea.
We are going to be joined by Misti Cain, Chad Lohrli, and Bryan Landers to talk about how AI is being used to help with design in human-centered areas like our homes, architecture, and other physical spaces. We’ll also explore how AI can help us solve design challenges more creatively and efficiently.
Please help me welcome Judson Neer with 4S Tech to Startup Beach. Their first event is scheduled for this week!
Also, a big welcome to Nathan Firth with Launchpad San Diego. Their first event is later on this month.
For more events, please take a look at our local events page.
Are you getting a mystery match?

Startup Beach Mystery 1:1s
Mystery 1:1s (weekly email connecting you with someone else from the community based on your profile) have been live for a couple of weeks, and the feedback has been great!
We now have close to 100 matches being made every week. I just found out AppSumo has a presence in San Diego, when I got matched with David Kelly, general manager of AppSumo Originals. All-around great guy, and as it turns out, he lives only a couple of minutes away from me

Startup Beach site updates
I made several updates to the Startup Beach site recently. Here’s a summary of what’s new:
For everyone
The event page will now show a badge next to the names of the hosts, speakers, and sponsors.
I rebuilt the messaging area to be mobile-first, which is how most of us send our messages to each other.
I revamped the member profile page to make it easier to learn more about other members. Plus, there is a fun beach header… because we can’t ever get enough beach. 🏝️
For event hosts
An email will now be sent to you when a pending registration is waiting on your review.
You can assign badges to hosts, speakers and sponsors for your events.
You can now add an event end date.
Wanna help?
Help the Startup Beach community grow by asking hosts of events you attend to host their events on Startup Beach. I would truly appreciate that! 🙌
Main benefits over the others:
Events are shared with a growing community of Startup Beacher (1,000 members and growing).
It’s free for free events and cheaper than the rest for paid events.
They can use the matchmaking algorithm to make sure their attendees leave with at least a couple of really good connections from the event.
Built in San Diego for San Diego.
Thanks for reading. Make sure to say hello if you see me at an event!
See you soon,

— Hussein ✌️
