Networking, but with a twist: Mystery 1:1s

I host the North County SD Startup Mixer in Encinitas and created the Startup Beach platform to bring the San Diego Startup Ecosystem together.

Today, I am very excited to introduce Mystery 1:1s! Turn this on to get matched weekly with another Startup Beacher. Meet virtually or in person — it's up to you (details below).

Mystery 1:1s are a new way to expand your network and make meaningful connections in your local startup community.

They use the same matchmaking algorithm used for events hosted on Startup Beach. But this time, you can meet directly - no events and no crowds involved.

When you turn it on:

• You’ll get a weekly email with your match and can connect directly via Startup Beach.

• Choose if you prefer to meet virtually, in person, or both.

• If you prefer meeting people in person (coffee, lunch, walks, etc.), enter your location (kept private) and the maximum distance between you and the people we’ll match you with.

The matchmaking algorithm used for events hosted on the Startup Beach platform connects you with at least two people at any event you attend. So you always have someone to talk to at our events.

Mystery 1:1s allows you to meet others in the community who might not be at the same events or might not attend in-person events.

It’s flexible, convenient, and a great way to meet people from the community.

1. Open the Startup Beach Settings screen and turn on the Mystery 1:1s feature.

2. Customize your settings.

3. Make sure your profile is completed, with your name and profile photo.

Note: It may take a couple of weeks for the first matches to be sent to give the community time to enable the feature and set their preferences. Thanks for your patience!

1. BioTech and MedTech are now separate industries for your profile. Sorry folks, I initially thought these all rolled up to Life Sciences! 😬

2. New for hosts:

   1. You can now host virtual events.

   2. You can now invite guests by email.

   3. You can download a list of your attendees and their email addresses.
